# Send a campaign to an uploaded list

> Send a campaign to numbers from a spreadsheet or your phone's contacts, even if they aren't contacts in Soosh yet.

## Before you start

- Owner, admin or manager role in Soosh
- [An approved template](https://docs.soosh.io/guides/templates/get-a-template-approved/)
- The list as an Excel (.xlsx), CSV or contacts (.vcf) file, with a column of phone numbers. Any column names and order work.

> **Note:** Send marketing messages only to people who agreed to hear from you on
> WhatsApp. Meta can limit or block numbers that customers report.

## Add the list

1. Start the campaign: go to [**Campaigns**](https://app.soosh.io/campaigns), click **Create campaign**, enter a
name, choose the template and click **Continue**.
2. In the **Add recipients** window, choose **Upload a file**, then drop the
file in the box or click it to choose one. To paste rows from Excel or
Google Sheets instead, choose **Paste list**.
3. Check **Phone number column** and **Name column**. Soosh guesses them; change
   them if it guessed wrong.
4. If some numbers have no country code, enter it under **Country code for
numbers without one**, like `91` for India.
5. Click **Next**.
6. For each variable in the message, choose the column that fills it, like
**Name**. The phone on the right shows the message as each person gets it.
   Click **Next**.
7. Check the summary, then click **Add**, and **Done**.

*Picture: The Add recipients window with wholesale-buyers.csv uploaded: one number needs a country code, filled in as 91, the Phone and Name columns chosen, and 5 will be added with 1 repeated*

Not sure how to lay the file out? Click **Download sample CSV** for a file with
the right columns for this template.

## Result

The window says how many people were added, and why any rows were skipped:
repeated numbers, invalid numbers, numbers missing a country code, people who
opted out of marketing (for a marketing template), or rows with an empty
variable. Then
[send or schedule the campaign](https://docs.soosh.io/guides/campaigns/send-a-campaign-to-a-tag/#send-it)
as usual.
