# Tag contacts

> Group customers with tags like VIP or Wholesale, to filter chats and send campaigns.

## Create a tag

1. Go to [**Settings > Tags**](https://app.soosh.io/settings/tags) and click **Add tag**.
2. In **Name**, enter the tag, like *VIP*. Up to 50 characters.
3. Choose a **Color**.
4. Click **Add**.

## Tag one customer

In a chat, click **Contact info** (the **i** icon), then the **+** next to
**Tags**, and click the tag. It saves at once. To remove a tag, click the
**×** on it.

## Tag many customers

1. Go to [**Contacts**](https://app.soosh.io/contacts) and tick the customers.
2. Click **Add tag** in the bar that appears, and choose the tag.

To tag a whole list as you add it, use **Tag everyone in this import** when
you [import contacts](https://docs.soosh.io/guides/contacts/import-contacts/).

## Result

The tag shows on each customer in chats and contacts. Use it to filter chats
(**Filter by tags**), the contacts list, and to
[send a campaign to everyone with it](https://docs.soosh.io/guides/campaigns/send-a-campaign-to-a-tag/).
