# Rewrite a reply

> Let the AI fix or change the tone of the reply you've written, before you send it.

## Before you start

- AI rewrite turned on for your workspace. If you don't see **Rewrite** (the
  pencil with a spark) in the message box, ask your admin. It is also hidden
  while Soosh has paused AI. It comes back on its own.

## Rewrite it

1. Open the chat and type your reply in the message box.
2. Click **Rewrite** (the pencil with a spark).
3. Choose what to do: **Fix spelling and grammar**, **Make it friendlier**,
   **Make it more formal** or **Make it shorter**.
4. Read the new text. It replaces yours in the message box.
5. Change anything you need, then press **Enter** to send it.

To get your own text back, click **Undo**, or press **Ctrl+Z** straight
away. **Undo** stays if a second rewrite fails.

> **Note:** Nothing is sent until you send it. The AI can change what you meant, so read
> the rewrite first.

## Result

Your reply goes out as you sent it, from you. A reply over 2,000 characters
can't be rewritten. Each rewrite is AI usage, paid from your workspace's
wallet.
