# Fix a rejected template

> Find out why Meta rejected a template, change it and send it for review again.

## Find out why

Soosh shows that a template was **Rejected**, but not why. Meta gives the
reason in [WhatsApp Manager](https://business.facebook.com/wa/manage/message-templates/),
under **Message templates**, and in an email to your business.

The usual reasons:

- **Marketing in a utility template.** An order update that also promotes a
sale is marketing. Choose **Marketing**, or take the promotion out.
- **A variable at the very start or end**, or variables with too little text
around them, like a message that's only `{{1}}`.
- **Looks like spam or breaks Meta's rules**: misleading claims, threats, or
  things WhatsApp doesn't allow.
- **The examples don't fit**, like an example name that isn't a name.

## Change it and send it again

1. Go to [**Campaigns > Message templates**](https://app.soosh.io/templates) and click the template.
2. Change what Meta objected to and click **Save**. The status goes back to
   **Draft**.
3. Click **Republish**, then **Republish** again to confirm.

> **Tip:** If the wording is hard to fix, create a new template with a new name instead.
> A rejected template has no limit on edits, but a fresh name avoids any
> confusion with the old one.

## Result

The template shows **Pending** while Meta reviews it again, then **Approved**
or **Rejected**.
