# Change a member's role

> Give a member a different role, or remove them from your workspace.

Source: https://docs.soosh.io/guides/workspace/change-a-users-role/

## Before you start

- Owner or admin role in Soosh. Only the owner can give or take away the
**Admin** role or any role that can add money to the wallet, and only the owner can change or remove a member who has one.

## Change the role

1. Go to [**Settings > Members**](https://app.soosh.io/settings/users) and click the member.
2. In **Role**, choose the new role.
3. Click **Save**.

Soosh shows **Member updated**. You can't change your own role, or the owner's.

If you can view roles, **What Ravi can do** on the right lists, in plain
words, what the role chosen for them allows. It follows the **Role** field,
so you can check before you save.

## Remove a member

1. Go to [**Settings > Members**](https://app.soosh.io/settings/users) and click the member.
2. Click **Remove member**, then **Remove**.

Soosh shows **Member removed from workspace**. They lose access to this workspace straight away. Their account itself isn't deleted, so they keep access to any other workspaces they belong to. You can't remove yourself or the owner.

The chats assigned to them become unassigned, and the bot answers the ones they
had taken over again. API keys they made keep working, because a key belongs to
the workspace, not to the person: check
[**Settings > API keys**](https://app.soosh.io/settings/api-keys) and revoke any you don't need.
