# Remove a tag from a contact

`DELETE /v1/contacts/{id}/tags/{tag}`

Removes the tag from the contact.

Needs `contacts:write`.

## Path parameters

- `id` (string, uuid): The contact's ID.
- `tag` (string): The tag. Percent-encode characters such as `/` (`Sales%2FEMEA`). 1 to 50 characters.

## Removing a tag twice

Removing a tag the contact doesn't have changes nothing and still returns `200`. `contact.updated` is sent only if the tag was removed.

## Returns

200. The contact as it is now.

## Errors

Besides the ones every request can get (https://docs.soosh.io/reference/api/errors/):

- 422 `invalid_field`: The tag is too short or too long.
- 404 `not_found`: There is no contact with this ID in your workspace.
